“Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” ― William Jennings Bryan
Once, I thought my destiny was a bit crap. I hated my job. I felt lonely, fat, ugly and I was financially broke.
Until one day I heard a song and it stayed in my head. I got home and I kept listening for a week, obsessively. Without understanding why I was listening the same music over and over, I checked the lyrics.
Nessun Dorma – is a famous aria of the last act of Turandot opera created by Giacomo Puccini and interpreted by Luciano Pavarotti.
To summarize the story, Princess Turandot proposes that any man wishing to marry her should answer three riddles correctly. Those who don’t succeed would be killed and have his head exposed on the wall.
A madman called Calaf falls in love with the princess and accepts the challenge. In the third act (Nessun Dorma), the crazy princess says that no one can sleep that night. Everyone has to find out the name of the man who wants to be with her, in that case, Calaf. During the night, a lot of things happen, fights, people killing themselves, you name it… madness…
In the last stanza Calaf says:
At dawn I will win!
I will win! I will win!
That was like a click to me. Do you know why?
Sometimes things don’t happen the way I planned. Everything goes wrong, the day seems cursed and I’m going to bed upset.
When I wake up, a new day is starting, I’m alive and it’s up to me to make it the best possible day.
This is my idea of destiny. At dawn I will win!
Try it yourself! Wake up and keep in mind that you are winning.
Make every day your BEST!
Work on your destiny. You will win!
