Can someone explain it to me? I never thought that in a few days so many bizarre things could make me so confused about humanity. Do you think we forgot the meaning of respect?
Respect: noun derived from Latin respectus which is a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.
Living like sheep
Pokémon Go is released in United States, days later in the UK and today (22/07) in more than 30 countries. This is a free location-based augmented reality mobile game for iOS and Android devices. Using GPS and camera, players can capture, fight and train virtual creatures who appear on mobile screens as though in real world.
Reality: That game is making people crazy. An 18-year-old who was shot dead chasing virtual animals in Guatemala City. There are reports run over people and a man crashed his car into a tree. All this happened because instead of living reality, people act like zombies ‘hunting’ Pokémons.
What is the logic of this game? To alienate people? Emptiness? Lack of better things to do? Are people too lazy to do something better in their lives?
While millions of people act like sheep, Nintendo bill £ 1.2m per day only with the iPhone users in America.
Religion without a meaning
Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, 31 drove through crowds celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, killing 84 people on the seafront Promenade des Anglais. To make it worse, he was shooting at people while driving. In the truck were found two automatic weapons, two AK-47 and M16 rifles, other weapons and grenades.
Bavaria, Germany – 19/07
A 17-year Afghan attacked train passenger with an axe in Treuchtlingen line train in Würzburg, Germany. Three people were seriously injured and 14 injured.
Reality: I always thought religion was associated with faith, love and respect. I think I got it wrong because today fanatics are out there to prove that God (whoever he/she is) created humanity to kill each other.
Who runs your country?
Istanbul and Ankara, Turkey – 15/07
Military coup attempted in Turkey against Erdoğan government. The Islamic-conservative president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged the population to take the streets and resist the coup. Some militarise opened fire on a crowd in Istanbul. The coup attempt caused 265 dead, including 161 civilians.
Reality: Can someone explain it to me because it is difficult to understand. I know that only in 2016, Turkey had 14 terrorist attacks, the latest in Istanbul Airport. Is fanaticism the problem? Money? Power?
How to draw your attention in seconds
Kim Kardashian posted a video on Snapchat proving that Taylor Swift knew that Kanye West would refer to her in his song Famous. The news made Kim ‘break’ the internet.
Reality: While the three of them are swimming in money, we are here trying to understand the video clip with naked waxworks.
Martin Luther King turns over in his grave
Miami, USA – 18/07
An unarmed American black man trying to help a patient with autism was shot by police in Florida. He was lying on the floor with his hands up asking the police officers to not shoot. At some point, one of the officers discharged his weapon. When asked by the black man why he did it, the policeman said: I don’t know.
Reality: People are increasingly racist and xenophobic. Perhaps they misunderstood Pokémon Go with reality.
Sport is life
International Olympic Committee decides to ban the Russian from Olympic and Paralympic in Rio. Russia accused of state-sponsored doping sabotage with a lot of Russian athletics.
Reality: I think I’m too naive. Even ping-pong players are on the sabotage list. I always thought sport was associated with perseverance, determination and self-confidence.
The heat drives people crazy
London, England – 20/07
On the hottest day of the year in England (32 C), three people were stabbed in Hyde Park after a water fight turns violent.
Reality: It is proved that humanity is crazy.
Such a shame
Sao Paulo, Brazil – 21/07
The Federal Police arrested ten Brazilians suspected of sympathising with terrorist groups. They were planning a terrorist attack during Rio 2016 Olympics.
Reality: Shame and super disappointed to read such a bad news about people from my country.
If you agree with me and feel completely disappointed, join this blog for a better cause. We can make the world better. I think there’s still time.
Respect. Love. Faith.
